Abstract

Silicone resins are widely used in various fields because of their excellent high thermal stability. To improve their comprehensive performances, many organic resins have been used for modification of silicone resins. In this article, silicone resins containing phthalonitrile groups were synthesized by the reaction of the silicone resin containing amino groups and 4-(2-oxiranylmethoxy)-1,2-benzenedicarbonitrile. The structures of phthalonitrile-modified silicone resins were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR). The curing process was characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and FT-IR. Thermogravimetric analysis results showed that the cured modified silicone resins had good thermal stabilities. Dynamic mechanical analysis indicated that they owned high glass transition temperature, suggesting that silicone resins containing phthalonitrile groups have high-temperature resistance.
