ABSTRACT
Food insecurity has the potential to lead to hunger and famine, which can affect various industries, including the hospitality and tourism (H&T) industry. Despite this, there are very few research studies investigated the effects of these risks on the H&T industry. This lack of research means that the industry is unable to assess the potential impact of food insecurity on the businesses in the industry. Based on this perspective, the current study examines the potential impacts of food insecurity, water stress, and famine risks on the H&T industry. Moreover, this study addresses challenges related to economic sustainability and resilience that have gained importance in the wake of the recent pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In this article, risks associated with food insecurity are discussed and recommendations for future research are provided based on interdisciplinary research and published reports.
