To the Readership of BioArchitecture,
It is with sadness that we are writing to let you know that BioArchitecture has come to an end as a journal for the biological architecture community. In the current environment it has become very difficult to maintain a constant stream of high quality primary publications. While we are very proud of the quality of manuscripts which BioArchitecture attracted and published, it is a reality of publishing that the number of published papers has to reach a certain level to justify continued production of the journal. It has become clear to us during 2016 that we had reached a point where we had to consider closing the journal. We have concluded that it is for the best to stop now.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Associate Editors (and in particular Prof. Ueli Aebi), Editorial Board (and in particular Prof. Alpha Yap) and contributors who made this such a satisfying journey. It is clear to us that many of the papers published in BioArchitecture will live on and contribute to our evolving understanding of the architecture of biological systems.
