Thoughts about “Assessment of Quality of Diabetic Care in Teaching Hospitals in Ethiopia: In Comparison to International Guidelines” [Letter]

Dear editor

We really appreciate Sabrina Shahid et al, for your thoughts about “Assessment of Quality of Diabetic Care in Teaching Hospitals in Ethiopia: In Comparison to International Guidelines”.

We find your comments constructive and thank you for detailed overview of our study. As you know delivering good quality of care is a standard of care in this modern era. Thus, research in this regard is currently getting attention worldwide. This paper tried to assess the actual clinical practice compared with international guidelines. But as you clearly mentioned it could be better if it was a multi-center study. The reason for this was financial constraints as the study was self-sponsored. We hope a nationwide study including more hospitals and different stakeholders will be conducted.

Regarding data collection (interview) technique, we prefer interviewer directed questions as we have some participants who have no formal education (unable to read/write). Apart from this all the other comments are appropriate and constructive, but we thought it will not have an impact on the outcome of this specific quality assessment research.
