The current economic situation has left many individuals and organizations with very difficult choices to make. Pediatric Health was launched in October 2007, with high levels of support from the pediatrics community, authors and editorial board. We have always received excellent feedback on the quality of the journal, with readers appreciating the timely topics, comprehensive reviews and excellent production standards. However, owing to the unfortunate timing of the launch of Pediatric Health, it has felt the full impact of reduced academic library budgets and, in spite of critical acclaim, we have been unable to make publication of the journal sustainable.
While we are disappointed that we cannot maintain a dedicated pediatrics title, we will be proactive in incorporating pediatric coverage within the relevant therapeutic areas across our journal portfolio. We would, therefore, encourage contributors to contact us with future article proposals in this field.
To ensure that clinicians and other health professionals can still benefit from access to the content of Pediatric Health, we would like to announce a period of extended free access to the general reviews and commentary published in the journal from the end of 2010. The journal homepage will remain on the Future Medicine website, and we hope that making our archives free to view will benefit the whole pediatrics community.
On behalf of the entire editorial team, we would like to thank you for your support and help over the last few years: without this, the journal would not have been possible.
