Society for Applied Anthropology

The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) was founded in 1941 to promote the investigation of the principles of human behavior and the application of these principles to contemporary issues and problems. The Society is unique among professional associations in membership and purpose – and in representing the interests of professionals in a wide range of settings including academia, business, law, public health, medicine, environment, and government. The unifying factor is a commitment to making an impact on the quality of life in the world.

The Society publish two journals, Human Organization and Practicing Anthropology, that advance, synthesize, and interpret the application of anthropological method and theory to the analysis and solution of practical problems in the contemporary world.

Members of SfAA are eligible to receive print copies and/or online access to the Society’s Journals, Human Organization and Practicing Anthropology, and online newsletter, SfAA News. By joining the SfAA, members become part of an active community where they can exchange ideas and network. The annual meeting provides an essential forum for analysing current issues and sharing experiences, whilst the committee activities and special interest groups encourage vital contacts with other professionals. Members also have access to the Society’s prestigious awards.
