Abstract
Chemical investigation of dichloromethane and ethyl acetate extracts from trunk and root barks of Trema orientalis led to the isolation of 16 compounds. Methylswertianin, decussatin, glycosides of decussatin, sweroside, scopoletin, (-)-epicatechin, lupeol, p -hydroxybenzoic acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, adian-5-en-3-one, 2a, 3a, 23-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid, 2a, 3ß-dihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid, ß-sitosterol, 3- O -ß-glucopyranosyl-ß-sitosterol and hexacosanoic acid were identified by means of their spectral data.
