Abstract
In addition to (+)-epicatechin, ß-sitosterol-ß-D-glucoside, 5,7,8-trimethoxy-3',4'-methylenedioxyisoflavone (4), lophirone A (5), calodenone (6), for the first time, 5,3'-dihydroxy- 4',5'-dimethoxy-6,7-methylenedioxyisoflavone (7), 4'-hydroxy-5-methoxy-6,7-methylenedioxyisoflavone (8), 5,4'-dimethoxy-3'-hydroxy-6,7-methylenedioxyisoflavone (9), 4'-hydroxy-5,3'-dimethoxy-6,7-methylenedioxyisoflavone (10), 3'-hydroxy-5,5'-dimethoxy-6,7-methylenedioxyisoflavone (11), and a new compound, afzelone D (1), have been isolated from the stem bark of Ochna afzelii R. Br (ex Oliv). The new compound is a derivative of lophirone A. The structures of 1 and 5 were determined by spectroscopic methods, including two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy.
