Abstract
The literature on medical and veterinary mycology is doubling every 12 years and the current annual output is estimated at between 1200–1500 items. Fungi imperfecti are most frequently involved as pathogens and the literature on dermatophytoses, candidiasis, fungal poisoning and histoplasmosis accounts for more than 60% of the total. More than 60% of the literature is in English. French is the second most used language, Russian the third. Most of the literature originates in North America and Europe.

Das Schrifttum über medizinische und tierärztliche Mykologie verdoppelt sich alle 12 Jahre, und heute schon wird die laufende Produktion auf 1200–1500 Arbeiten im Jahr geschätzt. Unter den genannten oder behandelten Krankheitserregern sind Fungi Imperfecti die häufigsten. Arbeiten über Hautmykosen (Dermatophytosen), Candidiasis, Pilzvergiftung, und Histoplasmose betragen mehr als 60% des Schrifttums, von dem auch mehr als 60% in Englisch erscheint. Unter anderen Sprachen steht Französisch an zweiter, Russisch an dritter Stelle. Die meisten Arbeiten sind nordamerikanischer oder europäischer Herkunft.
