&
Pages 126-128 | Published online: 09 Jul 2009

Abstract

Among many cases of tinea pedis investigated during the last 20 years, 16 patients were found with ringworm of the feet due to M. canis (7 cases) M. gypseum (5) and M. audouinii (4). Involvement of the toe-nails was observed in 4 cases, 3 by M. canis and 1 by M. audouinii. An animal (cat, dog) source of infection was confirmed for some of the cases caused by M. canis and by M. gypseum; soil was the source of other cases caused by the latter fungus.
