Abstract

The removal of injected C14-labelled histamine from the blood in various tissues has been studied in man. An intravenous infusion of C14-histamine was given at a constant rate until a steady state had been obtained and samples of arterial blood taken simultaneously with samples of blood from the pulmonary artery, the hepatic, renal, internal, jugular. iliac or axillary veins.

The largest extraction of C14-histamine from the arterial blood occurred in the renal and the portal circulation.

There was no measurable extraction of C14-histamine from the blood during its passage through the lungs or the brain.
