Highly Regioselective Bromination of BINAP in [Hmim]PF₆ Ionic Liquid

Abstract

Bromination of (R)‐2,2′‐(diphenylphospnino)‐1,1′‐binaphthyl (BINAP) in [Hmim]PF₆ ionic liquid was performed with N‐halosuccinimides at 110°C during 12 h, affording the 4,4′‐dibromoBINAP in high yield. The ionic liquid was recycled four times without modification of selectivity or efficiency.
