Abstract

α-Hydroxyphosphonates were synthesized from aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehydes with triethyl phosphite in the presence of β-cyclodextrin in an aqueous medium. The β-cyclodextrin can be recovered and reused without loss of catalytic activity.
