Abstract

Herein, we report the cobalt(II) phthalocyanine catalyzed one-pot α-alkylation reaction of ketones with primary alcohols to provide the substituted 1-phenyl-1-propanone as the desired compound. We have utilized different electron-rich and electron-deficient substituted alcohols and substituted acetophenones as the substrates for the present catalytic system. The reaction proceeds well with electron-deficient and electron-rich substrates and provide good to excellent yield of products. The products are characterized and confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and elemental analysis techniques and the data are supported with literature values.
