Abstract
Treatment of azlactones1–5 with hydroxylamine under different experimental conditions yields hydroxamic acids (2), disubstituted hydroxamic acids (3), β -hydroxylamino-hydroxamic acids (10) and several other compounds. The acid (10a) upon Catalytic hydrogenation gives M-benzoylamino-β aminophenylalanine amide (15) which gave β -aminophenylalanine (16) on hydrolysis.
