Synthesis of 3-Acetyl-1-benzyl-1,6-dihydropyridine

Abstract

A survey of the current literature on the preparation of the title compound, required for other purposes, reveals that no 1-substituted 3-acetyl-α-dihydropyri dines have been synthetized. In fact, only the preparation of 1,4-dihydro isomers from the dithionite re duction of the corresponding pyridinium salts have been described.¹
