Abstract
Recently some thioethers have been synthesized and tested for antiinflammatory, neurotropic, bactericidal, fungicidal, anticholesteremic and hypolipemic activities1–4. Few thioethers were also reported as tranquilizers5. Steroidal thioethers were used to assay steroidal harmones using radioimmunoassay technique6. These physiological observations prompted us to undertake the synthesis of isomeric steroidal thioethers (III-VI). These compounds were obtained in excellent yield and were characterized on the basis of their spectral properties.
