Abstract

A disubstituted urea, N-α-carbamylisopropyl-N′-α-isobutyronitrile urea, reacts at room temperature in water to yield an N-substituted hydantoin, specifically, 3-(α-carbamylisopropyl)-5,5-dimethylhydantoin.
