A Convenient One Step Synthesis of 5-Cystein-S-yldopa Using Ceric Ammonium Nitrate

Abstract

A facile one step synthesis of 5-S-cysteinyldopa 3, involving addition of cysteine to dopaquinone, generated in situ by oxidation of dopa 1 with ceric ammonium nitrate, in 2M sulfuric acid, is reported.
