Abstract

The complex of N,N-diethyl o-nitrophenoxy acetamide and POCl₃ on reaction with substituted salicylaldehyde yielded 3-(o-nitrophenoxy) coumarins. These on reaction with triethylphosphite yielded hitherto unknown benzoypranobenzoxazine ring system through a novel rearrangement.
