Abstract

Hitherto unknown six symmetrically and unsymmetrically substituted methylene bis(coumarins) and two methylene bis(quinolines) are synthesised by using 1:2 complex of N, N, N', N'-tetraethyl glutaramide with POCl₃ and its condensation with substituted salicyl-aldehydes and o-formyl acetanilides.
