Abstract

Pummerer reaction intermediate(2) of methylsulfinyl-methanephosphonate(1) has been found to react mildly with aromatic compounds in the presence of tin(IV) chloride to afford 1-(substituted-aryl)methylthiomethanephosphonate(3).
