Abstract
An improved synthesis of the title compound is described. N,N-Diformylglycine t-butyl ester 3, which was previously unknown, was isolated as a by-product from the preparation of 1. Additionally, another method for the preparation of 1 is described which consists of the reaction of sodium diformylamide 5 with the chloroester 4 in DMF.
