Abstract
A new peroxysulfonimidoyl intermediate which is generated in situ from N-carbo-(-)-menthoxy-4-tolylsulfonimidoyl chloride and superoxide (O2 −−) in the presence of 18-crown-6-ether at 0°C in acetonitrile was found to have a good oxidizing ability for the selective oxidation of sulfides to the sulfoxides and for the epoxidation of olefins under mild conditions.
