Studies on Allylic Oxidation Reactions of Methyl Abietate+

Abstract

Allylic oxidation reactions of methyl abietate (2) with selenium dioxide and lead tetraacetate have been studied in different solvents. Oxidation of methyl abietate (2) with selenium dioxide in acetic anhydride furnished methyl 7α-O-acetyl dehydroabietate (5b) in 68 % yield.
