Abstract

Benzotriazole has been found to complex with chromium trioxide to produce a versatile new oxidant. This complex is capable of oxidizing primary alcohols to carboxylic acids, secondary alcohols to ketones, and bringing about the allylic oxidation of olefin substrates.
