Abstract

A convenient synthesis and resolution of (-)-trans-4aR,8aR-1-propyl-6-oxo-decahydroquinoline (4) is described. This compound is then converted into the D-2 selective dopamine agonist, (-)-quinpirole hydrochloride (3).
