Abstract

A convenient one pot synthesis of 1,3,5-triaryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-oxo-7-methyl-2-thioxo-5H-pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidines (la-y) has been achieved by the condensation of different 2-thiobarbituric acids (2a-h) with benzylideneacetones (3a-d) in glacial acetic acid in the presence of phosphorous pentoxide.
