Abstract

3-Dicyanovinylindan-1-one has been condensed with thioamides in the presence of iodine in refluxing ethanol containing dimethylsuiphoxide to result novel 2-substkuted-8-dicyanovinylindeno (2,1-d)thiazoles isn excellent yield.
