Abstract

Reactions of α, α '-bisdiazo-2, 2′-biacetophenone with BF3 yielded 2′-(α-hydroxyacetyl)bipheny1-2-acetic acid and its lactone, leading to synthesis of biphenyls and phenanthrene compounds.
