Abstract

Selective preparation of cis-3,5-dibromo-4-oxo-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-hydroxy (6) and in-situ oxidation of alcohols to ketones and aldehydes by oxoammonium bromide in acetic acid as solvent (5) are described.
