Abstract

The intermediate 2, previously used in several synthetic sequences toward forskolin (1), has been synthesized from enone 3. The key step in the sequence is the 1,3-oxidative rearrangement of the tertiary alcohol 5, which allowed the easy introduction of the keto group at C-6 of 2.
