Abstract

The preparation of N-1 substituted thieno[3,4-d]pyrimidine-2,4-diones is presented. The key feature of this synthesis is the use of a 2,4-dimethoxybenzyl protecting group at N-3 that was readily removed in methanesulfonic acid.
