Abstract

A new family of bolaform surfactants with sugar head groups is described. The bis-gluconamides and bis-lactobionamides were obtained in excellent yield in a new route by action of a diamine HN₂-C_nH_2n-NH₂ (n = 6–12) on either delta-gluconolactone or lactobionic acid.
