Abstract

The paper describes synthesis of tetracyclic linear pyranoxanthones using 3-hydroxyxanthene as a synthon. Its transformation into only linear pyranoxathene followed by oxidation either by CAN or SeO₂ provided the desired system 1, 2 and 3 in fairly good yield.
