Abstract

: The reaction of allylmanganese(II) reagents with aldehydes gives alcohols with high regioselectivity. The allylmanganese(II) reagents are prepared by transmetallation between manganese(II) chloride and allyllithium compounds which are generated from allyl phenyl sulfides by reductive lithiation.
