Abstract

Catalytic amounts of both potassium dichromate and Adogen 464 are effective in promoting the oxidation by sodium percarbonate of various unsaturated primary and secondary alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds at 80°C in 1,2-dichloroethane, the reaction of saturated alcohols being sluggish.
