Abstract

In the presence of a catalytic amount of 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DDQ), tetrahydropyranyl ethers are readily hydrolysed to their corresponding alcohols in wet acetonitrile under mild conditions.
