Abstract

Hypervalent iodine oxidation of 3-carboxamide-2-oxo / 2-amino pyridines 1 and 3 by phenyliodine(III) bis(trifluoroacetate) (PIFA) in DMF/H2O results in a novel synthesis of isoxazolo and pyrazolo pyridines 2 and 4 respectively in 65–80 percent yield.
