Synthesis of 2,6-Dimethoxy-3-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-1,4-benzoquinone Using Organometallic Reagents

Abstract

2,6-Dimethoxy-l,4-benzoquinone was submitted to prenylation in the presence of PbBr2/Al/C5H9Br and Zn/C5H9Br respectively. The first condition affords 2,2′-dimethyl-5,7-dimethoxybenzopyran-6-ol while the second gaves mono and diprenylated derivatives.
