Abstract

For the synthesis of 2,2',6,6'-tetramethylbiphenyl-4,4'-dibenzthiazole 2 , first 2,2',6,6'-tetramethylbiphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid 1 was synthesized by the selective oxidation reaction of bimesityl. 2 was prepared by reaction of 1 with 2-aminothiophenol.
