ABSTRACT

The current exploration resides on the influence of hydrogen-enriched Kusum seed biodiesel (KSOB20) on diesel engine performance, combustion, and exhaust emission. The H2 flow rates were considered as such: 5 lpm, 10 lpm, and 15 lpm whereas the injection operating pressures varied from 180 to 220 bar on the interval of 20 bar. Upon hydrogen enrichment to KSOB20, the BTE and BSFC were noticed a positive outcome. Besides, the combustion quantities concerning CP and NHRR were boosted. Finally, other than NOx, CO, HC, and smoke were dropped. Similarly, the higher injection pressure (240 bar) has shown a positive impact on operating characteristics. For KSOB20 + 15 lpm Hydrogen, the highest BTE and minimum BSFC were found to be 31.87% and 0.23 kg/kWhr, respectively. Similarly, the CP and NHRR were 68.47 bar and 65.05 J/degree. CO, HC, and smoke levels were eventually reduced to 0.007%, 49 ppm, and 12%, respectively, with higher NOx.
