Abstract

A 30 year-old woman with HIV infection on HAART presented with periodic alternating nystagmus as well as signs and symptoms of severe cerebellar dysfunction. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed cerebellar degeneration. To our knowledge, this is the first case reported of periodic alternating nystagmus in a patient with HIV-induced cerebellar degeneration.
