An exploratory study on innovative competency mapping and its relevance for talent management

Abstract

The purpose of the current research is to find differences in IT workers’ skill sets across management tiers. The goal of this research is to learn how competency mapping is being utilised to evaluate various people’s skill sets so that the best teams can be formed and the best possible results can be achieved. A total of 236 IT workers in Tricity (Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali) participated in the research, which found that competence mapping had a favourable impact on a variety of HR procedures. This research used a variety of statistical methods—it uses several statistical methods and tests to arrive at its conclusions. When compared to lower and higher levels of management, the research finds that the abilities of medium-level managers are greater than expected. There are also considerable variations amongst workers at various levels of management. The gap in competence may be reduced via conversation and training. This study may help human resources specialists determine which skills are most important at various managerial tiers. It may also provide insight on how to use a competence mapping methodology to improve productivity. The results of the competency mapping model are vital because they help both the individual and the company understand what knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for a certain position.
