Forensic psychiatric research in the Nordic countries The current state, potentials and possibilities

Abstract

This paper presents the resources available for forensic psychiatric research in the Nordic countries and the current research activities within this field. Although the economic resources are generally insufficient, the Nordic countries are blessed with good opportunities for research and research collaboration in the field. The opportunities for cross-national scientific cooperation are unique, specially as far as register-based research is concerned. So far these possibilities have hardly been exploited. Examples of potential collaborative research projects are given.
