Acute paranoid-hallucinatory psychosis after an overdose of fluoxetine and enalapril: A case report

Pages 153-154 | Published online: 12 Jul 2009

Abstract

In this report we describe an acute psychosis following an overdose of fluoxetine and enalapril. The patient had major depression, but she had not previously had psychotic symptoms. The psychosis was characterized by hallucinations and paranoid ideation but no disturbance of consciousness, and it lasted for a few days. She has not had any psychotic symptoms afterwards. We discuss the possible mechanisms of this reaction.
