Modification of 59Fe Uptake in the Circulating Blood of Lethally Irradiated Rats Protected with Cyanide

Pages 383-386 | Received 29 Jun 1959, Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Summary

The incorporation of 59Fe in the blood has been used to measure the protection by sodium cyanide of the haemopoietic system of rats irradiated with 800 r whole-body x-rays. The results indicate definite protection, although this is insufficient to protect the life of animals receiving such heavy doses of radiation.
