Further Studies on the Mechanism of Inhibition of DNA-synthesis by Ionizing Radiation

Summary

DNA-synthesis in vitro was studied in cells after exposure to x- or fast-neutron irradiation. The measure was the incorporation into DNA of 14C-thymidine by Ehrlich ascites cells and of 14C-thymidine or 14C-formate by human bone-marrow cells. The radiation response is biphasic, dependent on oxygen, and is similar for both systems.
