Summary
(1) An average inoculum of as little as 1·4 cells of a tetraploid Ehrlich ascites tumour has been found sufficient to give rise to 50 per cent tumour takes in new-born mice.
(2) The number of inoculated cells necessary to produce a tumour increases rapidly with the age of the host mice.
(3) The viability of the tumour cells did not appear to be affected when they were inoculated in a mixture with heavily-irradiated tumour cells.
