Summary
Feeding a pyridoxine-deficient diet to mice led to an increase of radio-sensitivity. However, animals surviving whole-body x-irradiation for 10–13 days showed increased radio-resistance. Daily injections with the pyridoxine antagonist desoxypyridoxine gave rise to uniformly enhanced radiosensitivity. The rise in sensitivity is suggested to be partly due to depletion of biogenous amines. The increase in resistance to irradiation of surviving animals cannot be explained.
